Jina is Korean, although she studied in the US for many years and Jae is Korean American. So, of course they met and live in Hong Kong. Their wedding included three days of activities and parties in and around Florence culminating in their wedding day which was celebrated in an exquisite villa with breathtaking views of Florence.

Jina and Jae and both of their families were just lovely, elegant people. When I met Jina and Jae they had already selected their stationery which I absolutely loved and found so inspiring. The colors and the design combine for a relaxed and current vibe while maintaining a certain formality. They set the tone and I used these colors as inspiration throughout the rest of the wedding details and for the flowers. What beautiful flowers and the color nuances in the floral settings were delicate and refined. Thank you to Booth Photographics for the gorgeous photos.

What a treat to see the bride’s mother and aunts in traditional Korean dresses for the wedding. Just exquisite and so chic and what beautiful colors together. The bridesmaids wore Vera Wang dresses in different styles but all in the same color.

The terrace where the ceremony was held had a spectacular view of Florence as the back drop. Although you can’t tell in these photos we fought back the rain all afternoon and I was afraid that it might drizzle during the ceremony. We were lucky since the ceremony was magnificent outside on this terrace. Priceless.

The view was mesmerizing and in every direction you turned you felt as if you were in a postcard. The location was intimate and gorgeous and just the right size for this group with 70 guests in attendance. The idea for the dinner tables and the decor, in general, was to feel as though you were at a dinner party in someone’s very beautiful, finely appointed home. Each cut crystal vase and candle holder was collected and no two were the same. We added five carpets on the stone pavement between and around the tables to warm it up and make the surroundings feel more lush. The string lights overhead had a practical purpose to give more light but also to create a festive, romantic atmosphere.

As the planning for the wedding progressed it became apparent that Jina and I shared the same taste and so it was fun how it all developed. The rental location had new Richard Ginori plates that I thought would be ideal for the wedding tables and the bride loved them. They were also meaningful for them since they had bought a set of Richard Ginori plates for their home when they were in Florence the prior year and so this ended up being a personal touch. Richard Ginori has been making fine china near of Florence since 1735. The hand made glass charger was also made in Tuscany. We are lucky to be able to rent such fine materials from local artisans and craftsmen.

It was such a beautiful and fun wedding where the families and friends mingled throughout. It was the perfect half way point between Hong Kong and Korea in the East and Boston in the West. Leave it to Florence to bridge a gap like no other. Tanti auguri for a wonderful lifetime together Jina and Jae.
